DESCRIPTION: This position entails 40 hours/week performing youth council program oversight and public health planning and improvement projects. The Youth Council Program Manager is responsible for working with all 4 school districts in Prowers County to maintain and oversee Prowers County Youth Council. The developer is responsible for taking notes and maintaining records to track program progress and accomplishments and ensure timelines and deliverables are being met. The candidate will work collaboratively with staff and community partners to carry out the program as well as work on Community Health Needs Assessment and Public Health Improvement Planning for Kiowa and Prowers Counties.

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provides leadership, guidance and training for program staff/facilitators, youth interns, and apprentices. • Conducts outreach to recruit youth for the youth council. • Facilitates the design and implementation of the youth team projects, working collaboratively with youth to obtain an evidence-based curriculum to build life skills and reduce the risk of substance use. • Tracks and documents program sessions with sign in sheets, detailed notes, photos, & any other means deemed appropriate. • Monitors program activities; reviews, prepares and submits program reports; to any funding agencies supporting this program • Maintains a positive work environment and sets an example of conduct and professionalism for staff and students alike.

Bachelor’s degree required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint) and social media.  Experience in grant-funded work, including reporting and meeting deliverables, preferred. Some experience of participating in and running youth programs is beneficial but not required. Bi-lingual Spanish speaker a bonus, but not required. Ability to relate to young people and keep a professional distance a must. Understanding of the 5 protective factors for strengthening families. A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills. Must be grounded and organized and yet flexible and open to the changing demands of the job in public health. Willing to step into tasks as needed and requested by the Director.
