Description: At the Hotline County Connection Center, our team works together to give concerned citizens the opportunity to report suspected child abuse and neglect in Colorado 24/7. Our team then assures that concerned citizens are directed to the appropriate county child protective services agency where their concerns are heard. Our team takes reports of suspected child abuse and neglect for participating counties.

Salary and Benefits: Pay is broken down into two pay structures

  • Weekday pay: $14.50
  • Weekend/Evening pay: $15.50
  • Overtime pay is a time and a half
  • Hotline County Connection Center employees receive Prowers County Employee benefits including vacation time, medical/dental, retirement, and life insurance
  • Fully trained and qualified call takers may be able to work from home

HCCC Intake Specialist Duties

  • Answer calls for child abuse/neglect and elder abuse
  • Obtain needed information from callers, i.e. names, addresses, phone numbers and details of their concerns
  • Ask required questions and follow up questions
  • Type description of what the caller’s concerns are as you are on the phone with them
  • Make your typed description into a complete and concise report of all of the concerns
  • Submit the report through State computer programs and notify the appropriate county

Additional Duties

  • Intake workers may transfer callers directly to counties or take messages for counties as needed
  • Intake workers have to be able to make good judgment calls while dealing with callers and following a set of rules and protocols for submitting reports or messages

Needed Skills and Qualifications: Onsite training is provided for all job duties, however the following skills are necessary:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Good typing, writing and phone etiquette skills
  • Must be good at multitasking
  • Able to calmly interact with difficult or highly emotional people over the phone
  • Able to get along with other employees in a sometimes stressful environment
  • Dependable and able to reliably work as scheduled
