EOC and Equipment

Funding was provided by Homeland Security through Prowers County Office of Emergency Management for the installation of a new outdoor warning siren in the northwest quadrant of the City of Lamar.  The location and coordination with the City of Lamar Light and Power and local electrician, Electra Pro, made this project possible and on January 4th 2021 the siren operated flawlessly during its 1st test. (see video)
This and all other sirens in Lamar, Granada, Wiley and Hartman are tested on the 1st Monday of every month in Prowers County.

With assistance from a Homeland Security Grant Prowers County Office of Emergency Management has the capability of on scene incident management.  The unit is self contained with 8 positions, 800 Mhz and wireless communications availability.  The unit was activated for the Holly Tornado in 2007.
