Commissioner Redistricting is the process to redraw County Commissioner District boundaries to accurately reflect population changes in Colorado counties. Under Colorado Revised Statute §30-10-306 all counties must review their commissioner boundaries after each Decennial Census to ensure that the Commissioner Districts are as equal in population as possible. Per Colorado State Statute, there should be no more than five percent (5%) deviation between the most populous and least populous district within the county at the time the boundaries are adopted.
Beginning on May 4, 2023, the Prowers County Land Use Administrator, Prowers County Clerk, and Prowers County Board of County Commissioners underwent a public review process of three different proposed Commissioners' District and Voter Precinct maps. The Maps were published in the Lamar Ledger and on this website, public comment was accepted via email, and public hearings were held in Lamar, Wiley, and Granada.
On June 9th, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners adopted new Commissioners' District and Voter Precinct maps in public meeting via resolution.
Below you can find more information about redistricting as well as the Commissioners' resolutions and the final approved maps.
