Prowers County Sheriff's Office
ATTN: Patch Collection
103 E Oak St.
Lamar, CO 81052

The History of the Patch
This patch was created during the first few months
of Sheriff Faull's first term of service. The Sheriff's Office was using
a rather generic patch prior to this one. D.O. Zordel designed the patch
and it was approved and became the patch our Deputies wear today.
It reflects our County by the use of the County Seal and also the
arrowhead design. There are still many places in Prowers County, as well
as Southeast Colorado that have Indian relics to be found.
The green and gold compliment the newer uniform that the Sheriff's
Office wears. This was also a change that Sheriff Faull brought to the
Office, as we used to be Brown and Silver-Tan. The Prowers County
Sheriff's Office was also established in 1888, as reflected in the
patch.
This patch is worn by all employees of the Sheriff's Office.

Posse men and women help in search and rescue and other traditional
police work as well as in special operations like traffic control and
security during special events, providing a community barbecue during
the Prowers County Fair, and assisting in other community events.
One of the most visible parts of the Sheriff's Office,
the Posse volunteers bring their own personal talents to the service of
all of us here in Prowers County. They provide valuable support to
patrol deputies by acting as back-up on dangerous calls, transporting
prisoners to jail, by providing traffic control at accident scenes, and
even helping out at major crime scenes.
Citizens who choose to become volunteer posse members come from all
walks of life. All posse applicants undergo a background check and must
be approved by the Sheriff and by the Posse members. Applicants then
are eligible to receive training such as law, legal, and first aid.
Posse members who wish to carry a firearm must undergo firearms
training, be approved by the Sheriff and must qualify with their weapon
just as a full-time deputy.
Persons interested in joining the Sheriff's Posse must be at least
eighteen (18) years old, a United States Citizen, live in Prowers
County, possess a valid Colorado driver’s license, and pass a background
investigation. Applications can be obtained at the Prowers County
Sheriff’s Office or by contacting any active Posse Member. |
