Prowers County Volunteers
The Prowers County Rural Fire Department would find it difficult to provide the necessary service of structural firefighting, Wildland firefighting and hazardous materials response to its citizens without the dedicated and professional volunteers. The Prowers County Rural Fire Department has command staff consisting of a chief, assistant chief, captain and lieutenant. The department consists of 17 personnel with approximately 75 years of combined experience that provide service to 1,200 square miles of un-incorporated Prowers County.
The East Division of the Prowers County Rural Fire Department, which is geographically described as the area from County Road 19 east to the Holly Fire District and north and south to the County line, also relies on the Bristol/Granada Volunteers. These volunteers provide the same services which also include rescue/extrication. They provide an extremely valuable service to the citizens, utilizing 5 fire apparatus that are stationed in the Town of Granada and Prowers County Rural Bristol Station.
