Good News!

The Prowers County Office of Emergency Management has received a portable light tower to be utilized for extended operations at emergency scenes.  This will provide illumination that will make operations at scenes safer for responders.  The funds were provided by Homeland Security, this tower is one of 6 that were purchased for the region.  If an all hazard event would occur in the region that requires such equipment it would be available for that purpose also.

The 2015 Homeland Security Grant has also provided a new outdoor warning siren for the City of Lamar.  The siren will be located in the area of the Quail Ridge sub division and Spreading Antler’s Golf Course.  The siren will have battery backup and wireless control which is compatible with the current sirens that have been installed in Wiley, Kornman, Hartman, Bristol and Granada.  Project cost is $23,000.
