NEW OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN INSTALLATION COMPLETED
Funding was provided by Homeland Security through Prowers County Office of Emergency Management for the installation of a new outdoor warning siren in the northwest quadrant of the City of Lamar.  The location and coordination with the City of Lamar Light and Power and local electrician, Electra Pro, made this project possible and on January 4th 2021 the siren operated flawlessly during its 1st test. This and all other sirens in Lamar, Granada, Wiley and Hartman are tested on the 1st Monday of every month in Prowers County.

With assistance from a Homeland Security Grant Prowers County Office of Emergency Management has the capability of on scene incident management.  The unit is self contained with 8 positions, 800 Mhz and wireless communications availability.  The unit was activated for the Holly Tornado in 2007.

Prowers County Office of Emergency Management Mass Care trailer provides the capability to provide mass care supplies for 150.  Items such as cots, blankets and pillows were obtained from a packaged disaster hospital that the county down sized in 1997.  The same items have been pre-positioned in the Towns of Granada and Holly which provided useful in past winter weather events.
