| Prowers County is home to the geological formation known as Two Buttes. Two Buttes rises abruptly south of Lamar, and there have been some local people who claim to have skied the Two Buttes but most are skeptical of those claims.

| On the eastern plains of Colorado, the foundation ruins of a "relocation" camp can be found, a solemn reminder of Colorado history. Located one mile west and one mile south of Granada on County Road 23.5, the site is marked with a stone memorial to those interned in the camp. An impressive memorial was erected at the site in 1983, 42 years after the war. It is in honor of those who gave their lives, both as civilians and in the military, to World War II and the American cause.

| Humans have used the power of the wind for thousands of years - wind powered boats sailed the waters and mill ground grain into flour and pumped water from the ground. Today, here in Prowers County, wind powers the largest wind farm in Colorado. The 162 megawatt Colorado Green Wind Power Project, located 20 miles south of the Town of Lamar, was developed to help meet Colorado's demand for renewable electricity. Completed in late 2003, the project utilizes 108 GE 1.5 MW wind turbines, the largest assembled in America.
What better place to harvest the wind than the windy prairies of southeatern Colorado. Dotted over the years by a variety of historic water-pumping windmills used by pioneers when settling in this part of the country, today the area blends its historic past with a progressive future. The Colorado Green Project resides on about 11,000 acres used as a working cattle ranch. Less than 2% of the project's land area is used by the actual footprint of the wind turbines, leaving most of the land available for other purposes, including ranching and grazing - or, as the ranchers tell the story, the space used by the wind turbines translates to one less cow.

| The Madonna of the Trail honors the pioneer mothers of covered wagon days on the Santa Fe Trail. This monument is one of only 12 in the world and proudly stands at Lamar's Santa Fe Railway Park. It was dedicated September 24, 1928 by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Lamar was chosen for a statue because it was located on the Old Santa Fe Trail highway. The "Pioneer Mother" in the sculpture wears a sun bonnet. Clasping a baby in her arm and with a small boy hanging onto her apron, she is carrying a rifle. The face of the mother, strong in character, beauty, and gentleness is the face of a woman who realizes her responsibilities and trusts in God. She stands upon a base that is six feet high and weighs 12 tons. The base rests upon a foundation of two feet, making the statue 18 feet tall. Each of the 12 statues is exactly the same.
